I love Eventful, it came right up to Virginia Beach and gave you a variety of topics to look through to see if there was an event in VB that you are interested in. A lot of odd and interesting things were listed. I think it would be very useful if you have a customer looking for a specific event or for something to do.
I also liked Be Green Now as it showed a lot of interesting things going on if you are interested in that area.
I found it tiresome that everyone wants you to register which means you can't just look at things unless you do so, which is another reason why I loved Eventful!

Technorati - Thing 18
I find it exhausting to go around in Technorati because I have never done so before and have little experience with blogs. I see so many different blogs about things I don't care about but found the Washington Post one fascinating, though I never did see where Technorati was on their page. I see that it will be very useful and will keep this information available for later.
Tagging and Folksonomy - Thing 17
I am not sure how I will use this but it is good to know. I can see the potential of this tool for research assistance and it is an easy way to create bookmarks that can be accessed from anywhere. I thought the podcast about del.icio.sus was interesting but I found the pauses in YouTube annoying.
Myspace, Thing 16
I am not interested in do a MySpace page because I know that I am not interested in maintaining. I am amazed at how many people do do this and wonder how they have the time. It is a social phenomena that isn't just for young people anymore. Perhaps I might do this in my future but certainly not before the end of Learning 2.0.

Social Networking - Thing 15
I think it would be good to use a social network to interact with teens and other customers close to the teen years. I believe they would participate using this format more than another format. It will be good for staff to use a social network and get used to the idea.
I also like the ""Golden Rule." Don't say anything about someone else that you would not want said about yourself. And be gentle with yourself too! What might seem fun or spontaneous at 18, given caching technologies, might prove to be a liability to an on-going sense of your identity over the longer course of history. Have fun and make productive use of these new, exciting technologies, but remember that technology does not absolve one of responsibility. Behind every device, behind every new program, behind every technology is a law, a social norm, a business practice that warrants thoughtful consideration. "

VBPL Wiki - Thing 14
Fun to read everyone else's books and it was simple to add the book. I liked the floating tool bar!
I can see that this would be great to use for meeting notes or work rather than going back and forth with attachments on email.

Wikkis - Thing 13
Wikkis have lots of possibilities for libraries including the fun things they did with book lists and book clubs. I know lots of staff are talking about using them for meeting notes and being able to communicate using them. It looks like a fun way to work.
VBPL and IM - Thing 12
I love that we are doing IM at VBPL. Cindy worked very very hard to make this happen and I am delighted. It is another way to add service to a customer population that may not take advantage of our more traditional resources. I also love that some of my most senior librarians are the first ones to jump in and do IMing for CL! I feel that we are at least in the 21st century with the addition of this service
Instant Messaging Thing 11
I like instant messaging and again refer back to my first opportunity to attend the Computers in Libraries conference 4 years ago, then the Virtual Reference Desk 3 years ago and then again the Computers in Libraries Conference 2 years ago. When I went I learned about IM about Meebo and blogs and RSS, I came back the first time and started staff using Meebo to IM amongst themselves. I also gave out some lists of RSS feeds etc and at least one staff members still uses one from that list. I tried IMing using Text messaging with Diane Wetterlin and it is fun but I don't want to pay for it on my cell phone and would rather do it on a desk top or lap top. I feel sometimes that our regular Outlook email serves at IM for me as people seem to respond instantly.
Feedster is Dead and I never got to know it
Interesting that this will not open and some of the other sites talk about it having struggled and now being dead. However when I clicked on the similar pages at the Feedster entry I found Google Blog and found it very easy to use.
Google Reader and RSS feeds
I love the idea and have since I learned about RSS when I went to Computers in Libraries 4 years ago. At this time I don't schedule myself time to go online and read news so I am hoping with some of the RSS feeds it will be easier for me to keep uptodate.

Thing 5 - Share Your Thoughts
Michael Stephens - I liked these comments on "User-centered libraries breakdown barriers and allow users access wherever they are: home, work, commuting, school, or at the library. This involves users from the get go in planning and launching services based on their needs. This librarian asks what new technologies or new materials users need. This librarian proposes building projects and involves users in designing those places. This librarian does not create policies and procedures that impede users’ access to the library. This librarian tells users how resources and funds will be expended. Decisions and plans are discussed in open forums and comments are answered. This makes the library transparent."
Thing 2 - 7.5 Habits
The easiest habit is Accepting Responsibility for my own Learning I am very willing to ask for help or find directions to read.
THe hardest habit is to Use Technology to Your Own Advantage. I have to learn a lot of things that are at first difficult but become eaiser with use.
